We know the design process can be overwhelming. The internet has saturated our minds with beautiful spaces and it can be hard to execute a personal space that’s not a copy of someone else’s. While it seems like it should be fun and easy, clients often feel stressed and overwhelmed by hundreds of decisions around each corner of the process. Texture + Tenon strives to simplify the process and provide the professional advice you need to make the best decisions for your space, now and in the future.

Schematic Design - SC
Schematic design - putting your ideas on paper for the first time. It involves hand sketches, big ideas, overall goals and dreams. This is where we create mood boards for your project, understand key elements, and special needs. It's a collaborative process where you engage with your design team to help realize your future reality.

Design Development - DD
Design development is where we get to work for you. We take your ideas and start putting them on paper through digital drafting, 3d modeling, sketches, elevations, etc. This is where things take shape and actual dimensions and fits come into play. Real materials are selected and decisions get made. Design development meetings are where we provide lots of great material samples and guide you in the decision making process.

Construction Documents - CD
The construction documents phase is where the rubber meets the road. Drawings are crafted in detail to make sure your construction team has all the design decisions on paper in front of them. You get that crisp set of drawings that make your dream a reality. These drawings launch you into permits and contractor engagement with Texture and Tenon.

Bidding + Contractor Engagement
Your construction team will bid and price your project. Ideally, they’re involved earlier in the process and we work hand in hand from the very beginning. But, we’re able to work with your team at whichever phase they’re brought into the process. We review costs, lead times of materials, and evaluate what decisions need to be made to meet your needs.

Construction Administration - CA
Design does not end at construction. This is where a background in construction comes in handy at Texture + Tenon. Being engaged in the construction process is essential. The construction team and designer working together guarantees your best outcome for your space. There are design elements that we need to review as a team and on site decisions to make. It’s an exciting time to see drawings come to life! Trust us, it will be worth it.

Furnishing, Fixtures + Equipment
Should you need some guidance past the construction phase, Texture + Tenon is here for you. Whether it's selecting furniture, artwork, or decor, it can be an overwhelming process with all the options out there. What size of artwork do you need on this wall? What type of seating do we want here? How do we want people to engage with this space? There are many questions like these to navigate past construction. While we may be making these decisions before, or while, construction is in progress, Texture + Tenon will help you think through the many questions you may not have even thought of yet. It’s the details that count and we’re here for that.
